It’s not surprising to hear that fortysomething stars are shooting up Botox like rockers on a heroin binge. But teenage girls really?
According to several reports, 18-year-old singer Charice Pempengco got Botox injections to prep for her upcoming role on the hit Fox musical comedy “Glee.”
She apparently got them to narrow her face and not to smooth out the crow’s feet that creep across your face when you get older and actually have teenagers of your own.
But still as a mom, I’m disturbed by this. This girl is totally adorable, even with, yes, a very round face.
I wouldn’t allow my teen to have a cosmetic procedure like that. What sort of body image disorders will that lead to later in life? And aren’t Botox procedures like potato chips you can’t have just one procedure?
It sounds like the body image thing could be a real issue for her.
“All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure,” the singer recently told a TV interviewer.
Hope this either turns out to be the role of a lifetime for Charice or a wakeup call for whoever’s looking out for her.
