Say this for Zac Efron: He’s a generous soul, if no longer a long-locked one. The “High School Musical” dreamboat has much shorter hair these days, and a New Orleans charity has a lot more cash. No, he didn’t go all Britney Spears after breaking up with Vanessa Hudgens. Read on to see his new look and find out what happened.

For his new Nicholas Sparks movie, Efron had to get a military-style haircut to play the role of a U.S. soldier. So Efron challenged crew members on “The Lucky One” to do the same. For every crew member who shaved his (or her) head in the past week, Efron agreed to donate a certain sum to the New Orleans-based charity Kingsley House.

Two  female crew members were part of the 30 who took up the challenge, and they donated their hair to locks of love, which makes wigs for sick children.

Word is the newly single Efron donated a sizeable sum to charity — good for him.

What do you think of Zac Efron’s haircut? Do you like Zac Efron’s shaved head?
