Dressing girls is easy. Everywhere from kiddie couture boutiques to "Tar-jay," you can find something adorable for your daughter to wear to a special event. Boys, however, are a different animal. With my brother's formal wedding approaching, I perused our local mall in search of appropriate and adorable duds for my toddler. What I found? A sea of khakis and polo shirts. Dressing up dudes definitely takes a bit more work than stopping by your local Old Navy. Here are five outstanding outfits for your little man's next big day. — Kate Bayless

Tuxedos And More
For a truly formal occasion, I've concluded that are few things cuter than seeing a three-year-old in a five-piece suit. The CJB suits at Tuxedos And More are available in a variety of colors and styles and come in sizes as small as three months. Each set is 100% polyester (except the shirt) and includes pants, long-sleeve white shirt, vest, clip-on tie and jacket. Don't expect luxurious materials on this one, but the suit is comfy and looks sharp if you get the right size. For a truly formal occasion or for a picture guaranteed to make the grandparents beam with pride, pick up the Black Pinstripe suit shown here.

Georgie's World
I was bit skeptical about this outfit when I first saw it, but it looks adorable on. Underneath is the Ghost Diamond Shirt, a simple long-sleeve white dress shirt with a great stiff collar that keeps the outfit looking sharp. On the bottom, the Cammer Trousers have an adorable plaid print that would work just as well with dress shoes as it would with flip-flops at the beach. But my favorite piece has to be the Grandpa Sweater. Is it just me, or is there something endearing about dressing your toddler like an eighty-year-old? The v-neck, button-up Grandpa Sweater is accented with a simple diamond pattern and is constructed out of a fleece material that makes it super cozy. All items are 100% cotton and machine washable.
Ghost Diamond Shirt - $35
Cammer Trouser - $46
Grandpa Sweater - $40

Janie and Jack
A sister company of Gymboree, Janie and Jack is the classier of the two. I love the formal Pinstripe Vest and Jacket of this outfit matched with Button-Down Dress Shirt and casual Denim Jeans, because c'mon — we are talking about toddlers here. Fit is key here, as getting the vest and jacket a size too big will result in a look that is sloppy, not spiffy. While the quality, color and cut are noteworthy, the price is a bit hard to swallow. Find peace in remembering that special occasions often call for special purchases . . . and then find any and every excuse you can to wear that sucker.
Button down dress shirt $30
Pinstripe Vest $38
Pinstripe Jacket $98
Denim Jean $34

Neige
Perfect for a warm-weather wedding or a social by the sea, the linen Berkeley Short hits just below the knee and blends perfectly with the crisp white Boston shirt and ivory three-button Preston Jacket. The set has a tailored look and fit and adds a touch of simple elegance to any toddler . . . if such a thing is possible. The set is pricey but also high-quality. All are machine washable and constructed in the U.S.A.
Berkeley Short - $86
Preston jacket - $112
Boston shirt - $82

Tea Collection
Little boys look adorable in sweater vests. This outfit by Tea Collection (left) includes the Journey Corduroy Pant that can do double time as causal-wear and the Guava Stripe Shirt that can work as a formal piece for any season. But it really is the Viking Cable Sweater Vest that pulls the outfit together and says, "I may be five, but I'm bound for greatness." For a less expensive alternative, check out the sweater vest outfits at Children's Place. Here, their Pull-On Cord and Striped Woven Shirt are accented by the Argyle Sweater Vest - all for under $50.
Journey Corduroy Pant $41
Gustav Stripe Shirt $41
Viking Cable Sweater Vest $51
