Halloween is almost here. It's time to outfit your ghosts and goblins in something comfortable enough for a few hours of whine-free trick-or-treating. We focused on more unique costumes. You don't want to confuse your little monkey for the five other monkeys in the preschool costume party parade. As an added bonus, the five picks can be used for more than one night, and will be something your child will want to play dress up in for months after candy corn is off the store shelves. — Oz Spies

Babble Best: Little Hero Custom Costumes — $40-$64
Let your toddler dress up as the superhero of his or her dreams this Halloween with a custom cape. Girls or boys can be themselves — only with the superpower they most want to have, like no fear of the dark or a force field that repels all vegetables in a five mile radius. Discovery Denim can use the symbol of your choice, such as a lighting bolt or star, and top it with a letter, all in shiny satin. Capes cost $40 and you pick the color. For a full outfit, pick up a set of wrist cuffs ($8) and a mask ($16). We think it's a strong contender for favorite item from the dress-up chest for years to come.
Note: order two to three weeks early to allow time for the creation of your custom cape. If you don't want a custom version or don't have time, you can also pick up readymade options, like a blue satin cape with a lighting bolt for $35.
Order your Little Hero Create-A-Cape at Discovery Denim for $40.
Get wrist cuffs and masks at the Discovery Denim store for $8 and $16.
