(image via therecordexchange.com)

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I’ve picked out 11 tracks for you, all relatively new! (Or at least from this century!) And, of course, I’ve tried to pick tracks you might not have heard on the radio so you can hear some fresh sounds as well! You’ll love the sweet sentiments, heartfelt feelings and amazing vocals — and it won’t fail to lift your Valentine’s Day spirits!

  • Jessie Ware – Devotion 1 of 11
    Jessie Ware - Devotion
Her first album, "Devotion," has been out in the UK, but her new EP is just out in the US -- and she's amazing. In a way, she's like Sade for a new century, but with modern beats! She's our new favorite (we had to order her CD from the UK!)

  • Zero 7 – You’re My Flame 2 of 11
    Zero 7 - You're My Flame
This is another great British band. While much of their music is downtempo, this is a whimsical and affectionate ode to love you'll enjoy!

  • School of Seven Bells – I L U 3 of 11
    School of Seven Bells - I L U
The title sounds like a teen's doodling on a Pee-Chee (remember those?), but the beautiful harmonies will hook you.

    Mika - Make You Happy
Mika's one of our family's favorite artists, and this is a sweet song from his newest album.

Fitz and the Tantrums - L.O.V.
More silly abbreviations, sure, but this LA retro band will make your v-day bright.

  • Mayer Hawthorne – Finally Falling 6 of 11
    Mayer Hawthorne - Finally Falling
It's hard to pick just one Mayer Hawthorne song. His retro-soul sound is great -- and he'd merit inclusion just because he's released one of his songs on heart-shaped, red vinyl!

  • Alice Russell – Heartbreaker 7 of 11
    Alice Russell - Heartbreaker
Okay, it's not technically a love song. But Alice is so amazing, and this is her newest track. You have to hear her sing! In a fair world, she'd be as popular as Adele.

  • Pet Shop Boys – Love Etc. 8 of 11
Pet Shop Boys - Love Etc.
One of my favorite bands from back when is still putting out great music, including this uplifting track from a few years back. It's an ode to everything you don't need -- and what you do: Love.

  • Death Cab for Cutie: Soul Meets Body 9 of 11
Death Cab for Cutie: Soul Meets Body
Ever since Seth Cohen's obsession with DCFC, I've also loved Benjamin Gibbard's voice. This (slightly morbid) sweet song about true love never fails to lift my spirits.

  • Duncan Sheik – What Is Love (Gabriel & Dresden Remix) 10 of 11
Duncan Sheik - What Is Love (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
Duncan Sheik recently put out an album of 80s covers, and then an album of remixes of that album. This remix updates the original respectfully but gives it an updated sound.

  • Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings – Tell Me 11 of 11
Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - Tell Me
Amazing singer, amazing band. "Tell me you love me," she sings, and love is in the air.
