12 Daily Deal Sites You’ve Never Heard Of

The Sokol Family Year of Awesome is coming to an end. We have been rock climbing and miniature golfing. We’ve become members at our favorite Indianapolis museums, and drummed away an afternoon at Rhythm Discovery Center. The girls cheered at their very first hockey game—and baseball game. Next up, the hubby and I get to play like the kids again when we take them to family day at a local gymnastic center.

And, our year of family fun? Has cost me next to nothing! I’ve taken advantage of daily deals to buy memberships, tickets and packages for a year of family fun in Indy. These one day only deals have not only saved us a ton of money, but they’ve allowed my family to experience new things and find businesses we may have otherwise overlooked.

You’ve probably already heard about Groupon, using the collective buying power of the web to drive down prices and buy vouchers for local restaurants, retailers, and services. What you may not realize is just how many other city deal & sample sale sites are out there. Check out twelve awesome sites for daily deals, sample sales, and flash sales, below the jump.

  • Dealster 1 of 12
    Dealster
Deal$ter has online deals, gadget deals, travel deals, and city deals. But, the best part is Dealster Rewards. If Foursquare & Get Glue are any indicator, users love to earn badges! Why not earn badges with actual monetary value?

Each Dealster badge has a predetermined credit value, which you can use to purchase more deals. Get started with the Founders Badge—and a $1 credit towards your first deal (which, btw, will earn you the Rookie badge for $5).

  • Eversave 2 of 12
    Eversave
Eversave is one of my favorite daily deal sites. They feature awesome local deals for family fun and pampering for mom. Their Save Rewards program offers credit for certain actions (like spending over & above your purchased voucher) as well as a generous referral bonus.

Plus, they offer frequent promo codes to save even more.

  • HomeRun 3 of 12
    HomeRun
If you'd rather earn points than badges, Homerun is for you. You can accrue points based on your participation in the Homerun community. Points can be used to unlock private offers.

But, their coolest feature? Avalanche offers—these special Daily Steals drop in price as more people purchase the deal!

  • Juice in the City 4 of 12
    Juice in the City
Juice in the City sprung out of the Juicebox Jungle blogger ad network. When they launched the city deals, they turned directly to the bloggers in their network. That means the deals are sourced locally—by mom bloggers who live and love the city they work.
  • Living Social 5 of 12
    Living Social
Okay, so maybe you've already heard of Living Social, since it began as the popular Facebook application, Pick Five.

Now that they have online & local deals, you can still harness the power of your Facebook network. Buy a deal, share it with friends and when three other people buy the deal, yours is free.

  • MamaSource 6 of 12
    MamaSource
Mamasource Sweet Deals is another sourced by moms, for moms—with a twist. They'll donate 5% of every purchase to the school of your choice.
  • One Kings Lane 7 of 12
    One Kings Lane
One Kings Lane in more sample sale than daily deal, but it's no less awesome. Featuring top brand & designer home decor, sales begin at 8pm PT and last for 72 hours.
  • Plum District 8 of 12
    Plum District
Plum District is another site sourced by moms who live in the deal district, with a little something extra. Visit your city's page to meet the deal consultant for your area. See the moms who are finding bargains for you and learn a little about them.
  • Rue lala 9 of 12
    Rue lala
Rue La La occasionally features Yummie Tummie, and that was all it took for me to join! It's an invitation only sample boutique, with amazing deals on fashion, travel, wine, gourmet foods, and more. But, don't worry—I just invited you!
  • Savvy Source 10 of 12
    Savvy Source
Savvy Source Savings & Scholarships offers primarily online deals. So, you get the savings, but what about the scholarships? For each purchase, 5% will be contributed to a preschool scholarship for at-risk children who may not otherwise be able to receive an early childhood education.
  • Tippr 11 of 12
    Tippr
Tippr offers three deals per day. Plus, the value of each voucher gets better each time a deal is purchased.
  • Zulily 12 of 12
    Zulily
Zulily is new(ish) to me. I've seen the amazing things my friend Casey buys for the adorable Miss Vivi and always assumed it was a baby site. Turns out? The sample sales feature name brands & boutique fashions for babies, kids, and mom. Daily sales start at 6am PT and last for 72 hours. I've signed up just in time for holiday shopping!

We’ve used the daily deal sites for date night, family fun night and gifts. I’ll definitely be scouting as many deals as I can as the holidays approach. I need all the help I can get to keep the gift budget under control!
