It’s yard sale season! It’s yard sale season! That means lawns all over the city are covered in bookcases, old dressers, desks, and more furniture just begging to come home with me. I can’t resist a good bookcase bargain. Ever.
For one, we have books in every room of the house. But, they are also great for storing toys, craft supplies, DVDs and games. (FYI, baby wipe containers fit nicely along the depth of a bookshelf.) You can also use bookcases to create a built-in look.
But, this post isn’t just about bookcases, as much as I love them. It’s about secondhand furniture, in general — and creative ways to revamp it for a completely different use. We have a changing table turned buffet and an old china hutch turned potting shed here at home. Using things we already had to meet our needs is the very definition of frugal.
