19 Creative Solutions For Your Fireplace

A reader recently requested a post on what could be put in a fireplace other than fire. You know, say you have a fireplace that isn’t working. Or a fireplace that is for decoration only. Or, maybe you just have a mantle?

A fireplace is a pretty hard and fast one-use object, isn’t it? Because it’s a place… for fire. Right?

But I found a couple really great looking ideas that just might salvage that broken old fireplace and turn it back into the decorative centerpiece it was meant to be:

    Pro tip: you might not want to fill the fireplace with books you'll want to read again (hard to get to), so try stocking up on colorful books at your local thrift shop and having them be "dedicated fireplace books" instead.
