App-y Holidays: 3 Must-Have Downloads for Christmas Eve

Twas the night before Christmas Eve, and I’m busy downloading iPhone apps for a little extra fun tomorrow.

The girls are giddy with excitement about Santa’s arrival tomorrow night. They can’t wait to decorate the cookies we baked for him tonight. They’re already talking about the pajama present they’ll open just before bed. The stockings are laid out, ready to be hung with care.

And, I just reminded the girls about our very favorite holiday app so we can track Santa on his journey all day.

  1. NORAD Santa Tracker is my favorite holiday app EVER! Using Google maps, we can follow Santa as he travels around the world. The girls love to guess where he is next and can’t wait to see his sleigh move across the globe. I also follow @NoradSanta on Twitter to get updates via text message throughout the day.
  2. Last week, I downloaded Twas the Night Before Christmas on my iPhone. We love the read the book on Christmas Eve, but I’m interested in the idea of a more interactive experience for my digital kids. Of course, it won’t be a replacement for our annual tradition, but I think they’ll enjoy hearing the store again in the car while we view the holiday lights.
  3. Then it’s back home to hang our stockings — except, we don’t have a fireplace! Enter the Fireplace HD app. With several styles of crackling fire to choose from, we can hang the stockings and open our gifts next to the shining light of an iPhone or iPad.

It’s just who we are…
