Back To School Shopping For Your Home: Cleaning Supplies

By Natalie |

Ah, the clarion call of back to school shopping. Do you hear it? Do you hear it? I can hear it!

Oh gosh, I used to love back to school shopping. Every August, when the commercials would start, and those catalogues from JCPenny would come rolling in the Sunday papers, and I’d see all those cute girls in all those cute clothes — those cute girls who were clearly not in Jr High but were pretending like they were — oh, it was the best of times. I loved the possibilities of a fresh start to a new school year, replete with chunky boots and overalls! And I loved back to school shopping because 1.) I loved school (until I hit middle school) and 2.) I loved shopping (until… nope, still do!)

But geez, now we’re old and boring, and who says our kids get to have all the fun? What about you? What about us, huh? What about our homes!?

Now that I think on this, I suspect getting our homes ready for the back to school season is potentially the smartest idea I’ve ever had. Yep. I’m calling it.

So let’s get into this! After the jump

Think about it: getting ready for a new school year isn’t just about stocking up on Elmer’s glue and number 2 pencils. It’s about preparing your home for new routines! Getting up on time, preparing healthy lunches in the mornings, making it to the bus on time, finding a place for back packs and coats to live at 3PM where they’re not all over your floor, space on the kitchen table for homework, dedicated folders for signed permission slips and those never ending flyers…

Well, we’re getting to that. But before we do, we’re starting at square one. Today we’re going to discuss cleaning supplies. Do you know when is the best time to replenish your cleaning supplies (aside from when you run out, of course)? The answer is: Now. September. Obviously. (Duh.)

So, what do you need in your cleaning arsenal? Here is what I need in mine:

I love this post! I, too, loved back-to-school shopping, and longingly miss the days when I had a reason to buy boxes of pencil crayons and new freshly-paged notebooks…sigh.

And so…what a great idea to restock the cleaning supplies once those backpack supplies are no longer needed?!

  2. Rhonda says:

I love those magic erasers. They really are magic.

  3. Noetje says:

“Do you remember back when you had Soft Scrub and a dedicated toilet brush and things were terribly uncivilized?” Pardon me?? I would not call this uncivilized. Merely good old common sense. No one needs all the expensive specific cleaning materials. They are bad for the environment and cost quite the handful.
