Fridge Decor: The Egg Crate Roundup

When I was pregnant, I wanted to eat nothing but eggs. It was just the perfect food. I wanted it scrambled, I wanted it with a slice of cheese melted on the top, and I wanted it three times a day at least.

Obviously it follows then that once Huck was born it never occurred to me to make eggs ever again.

Oh, but I still love eggs! I do!

And even more, I love egg crates. I picked out my egg crate, the robins egg blue in porcelain, above, at Anthropologie a few years ago, and it is the best thing I ever did for my fridge. Because if kitchens deserve to be pretty, then so do our refrigerators! And there is nothing prettier or more relaxing to me than opening my fridge and seeing all my brown eggs lined up perfectly in their little blue bucket seats.

After the jump, I’ve compiled a roundup of some of the best egg crates available online, in many different materials and finishes, all guaranteed to make your fridge feel as special to you as she is.

  • ANTHROPOLOGIE EGG CRATE 1 of 9
    ANTHROPOLOGIE EGG CRATE
The gold standard. (The blue standard?) Anthropologie's initially came in a pack of nine, which is a silly idea all together I think we can all admit. But now they're sold in the more traditional 'dozen' format, and hallelujah! Plus, I really like the blue. I do!

If blue's not your deal, these guys may be perfect for you! (Warning, the dreaded niner is happening here. What do you do with the other three eggs? I guess make an omelet?)

  • KIKKERLAND CERAMIC EGG RACK 3 of 9
    KIKKERLAND CERAMIC EGG RACK
Similar to the Anthropologie egg crate only in white, this classic egg crate gets the job done and needs no frills.

  • CRATE AND BARREL EGG CRATE (AND BARREL) 4 of 9
CRATE AND BARREL EGG CRATE (AND BARREL)
I like Crate and Barrel's take on the classic, with extra oomph in the porcelain department. This one is a sixer, so, you'll want two?

  • ELIZABETH KARMEL EGG CRATE 5 of 9
    ELIZABETH KARMEL EGG CRATE
This one reminds me a bit of an ice cube tray, which leads me to wonder what would happen if you froze an egg? (Insert IVF joke here.) (Oh gosh, 'insert?') (!!)
