One of the things I love most about DIYing is that thinking creatively saves money. I have been working on decorating a guest room in my basement and I spent hours combing through online sites looking for a duvet for that space. I finally had given up and was going to sew a duvet out of a pair of sheets, when I happened to see a fabric shower curtain. That got my imagination running and I ended up making the duvet for my guest room from that shower curtain for a fraction of the price that buying a duvet would have cost. Plus, I was able to make a duvet that fit in with my overall design for the room, instead of settling for something that wasn’t quite what I had in mind.

So when you are thinking of a project, consider repurposing items you may not have considered. You can see the entire Duvet Out of a Shower Curtain tutorial on my Tatertots and Jello blog. Plus, there are a couple other projects I made in that room that also saved me major money by DIYing myself.
