Holiday Crafts for Kids: DIY Ornaments and paper chains for preschoolers

Fingerpainted Gift Wrap:

Create personalized wrapping paper using your child’s fingerprints (or handprints!) that everyone on your gift list will love!

Supplies:

Brown craft paper, acrylic paints, paintbrushes

How To:

  • Spread newspaper out to cover work surface
  • Cut craft paper to desired size for gift wrapping
  • Using paintbrush, paint child’s hand, then make handprints all over paper
  • Clean off hand and repeat with another color
  • Continue to repeat until desired effect is achieved

Stained Glass Cards:

These simple cards are easy to make and lovely to give family and friends during the holidays.

Supplies:

Construction paper or colored cardstock, tissue paper, scissors, glue, cookie cutters, pencil

How To:

  • Fold construction paper into desired card size
  • Use a cookie cutter as a stencil and draw around shape with a pencil
  • Grownups cut out shapes leaving open windows
  • Cut pieces of tissue paper slightly bigger than open windows
  • Open card and glue tissue to cover the windows
  • Set aside and allow to dry before writing inside of card
