Old, meet new 1 of 9I love my kitchen. It's generally a mess, but it's bright and sunny, and in the summertime we open up the windows to the patio outside. The countertops came from the old U of Calgary science lab, and the hardwood floors are 100 years old (and look it!). The table in the nook came from my friend's grandmother's house. If I ever manage to get a new oven/stove (we still have the one that came with the house), I may never leave!

Love what you do —Â and where you do it 2 of 9I have a deep-set desire to be organized… to feel productive, creative and at peace. I have a brand new office that satisfies all of those desires. It makes me happy on the deepest level of "me"… and yes, it is where I "work." But, I love what I do… and now, I can love where I do it. I used to share with my husband and now this is mine, all mine.

A room of my own 3 of 9For the first time since I was 19, I'm living in a house all my own. My children and I moved here after my husband asked for a divorce and upon unpacking the final box, I declared that everything coming into my home from there on out would be something that inspires me. So I've slowly begun collecting an eclectic mix of used furniture, vintage keepsakes, and kickass pillows. I've spray painted ugly furniture, hunted down breathtaking throw blankets, and tried to make a space that feels like home.
See the sexy blue glass vases in the background? Those were gifts from my HisXHers.com partner in crime, darling friend Eldon, who encouraged me to create a scrapbook of favorite photos from design catalogs in order to better understand my own style. So far, I feel like it's working. Nowadays, I come home, take one look at my living room and can't stop smiling. It's just so me. It's just so home.

New and improved 4 of 9My favorite space in my home is our newly-renovated dining room (which used to be a dark, red brick den of scary!). Not only was the project incredibly rewarding to complete with my husband (we built everything ourselves!), but it houses so many memories already — entertaining with friends, hosting holiday meals and quiet home-cooked meals with our family.

A low-traffic spot 5 of 9This is our tiny guest room. I like to sneak away to it every few weeks and take a half-hour nap after staring out the window at the lush greenery. It's the only space in the house that isn't regularly walked through, so I consider it a "hidden" sanctuary.

With or without kids 6 of 9I love sitting on my front porch and watching the kids playing in the front yard. Oh, who am I kidding? I love sitting on the porch with nothing but my thoughts and a giant glass of wine.

A mess-proof haven 7 of 9Last year Jaime and I both made-over our patios for Prudent Baby, so it's one of the spots in my house that I have really focused on decorating. I love that it's the first spot that people see when they visit. I also love that it's the last spot the kids make a mess, only because the front door is locked!

Bringing the indoors out 8 of 9We put a lot of effort into our porch last year and I love the way it turned out. It's beautiful, comfortable, and has become a sort of outdoor living room. How could you not love a place where you can lounge on an unbelievably comfy couch and appreciate nature?

My daughter’s room 9 of 9My favorite space has to be Dee's room, hands down — it was my sole source of sanity while waiting for my little miss to arrive, and now it's just undeniably the most cheerful room in the house! (It's too much of a mess to take a big-girl-bed shot, but we're working on that...)
