Play-Doh Valentines: Crafts that kids of any age can make for schoolJoanne Roehm
Instead of buying the typical branded cards or generic heart-shaped lollipops, why not make a special gift your child’s friends can play with past the big day? Mini tubs of Play-Doh are so cute to hand out to classmates, but expensive to buy in stores. Here’s how you can make your own Play-Doh Valentines without going over your budget.
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
2 cups water
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp cream of tartar
Plastic containers with lids (I got my heart-shaped ones from the dollar store)
Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a medium to large pan over low heat.
Step 2: Stir – it’s a good arm workout!
Step 3: Add food coloring and continue to stir until mixture solidifies and leaves the sides of the pan.
Step 4: Remove from heat. Wait a couple of minutes to cool, then knead in more coloring thoroughly, and allow to cool about an hour on the counter, or a half hour in the fridge covered in saran wrap.
Step 5: Place a little dough in each container and seal.
