As parents, putting family first can make us feel like our own interests and hobbies are pushed to the backburner. However, sometimes you meet a mom or dad who carves out time to pursue their passions — and make a living from it, to boot. While compiling this list, we’ve had the chance to hear from incredible parents around the globe. What they all have in common is a love for beautiful things — and the savvy to share it with others on Etsy.
The shops on this year’s list are as diverse as the sellers behind them. From couture kids clothes to vintage home goods, each object showcased here is a representation of the creative stories behind them. Warning: this is online shopping, taken up a notch. Prepare to become addicted! (And if you think we missed a shop, nominate it in the comments!) — Amy Levin Epsteinsee the full list »

Shop here for: Prints, note cards, and tea towels featuring state birds
Signature Item: Birds and Blooms of the 50 States print series, $15
Sometimes, following your passions can lead to great things. Take Anna, who holds a BFA in Illustration from the Massachusetts College of Art, and Mara, graduate of a year-long letterpress class from the San Francisco Center for the Book back in 2002. The two first crossed paths while working at Paper Source together, and it was there that they decided to join forces on Etsy. Today, their shop is the go-to spot for everything from cards to brighten up a friend’s day to tote bags that hold everything you need — and each product is printed with beautiful images of various feathered friends and flowers.
Future plans for the creative duo include a new series of prints depicting floral-patterned letters, and holiday-themed tea towel sets for winter 2012. Also watch out for their book, Birds and Blooms of the 50 States (based on the shop’s print series!), which will be released in spring 2013.
