I’m happy to be part of the team bringing home ec back with the start of Babble’s new channel, The New Home Ec.
It’s been said that we live in a technological world. My kids know more about electronics than I did as a child. As much as I love this fast-paced, electronic world, I think it’s important to teach our children about sewing, saving, recycling, gardening, cleaning, and organizing. These are all skills helpful for children to learn to be independent people. We want that right? We want our kids to move out someday, have a life, be responsible? I know I do.
I’ve loved reading these past Babble articles talking more about how we need to bring Home Ec back:
- Time to Bring Home Ec Back
- Home Ec 101
- Teach Kids Life Skills and Self-Confidence
- Do-it-Yourself Domestic Skills
How does it work in your family? Are you sharing your knowledge with your kids? What’s worked for you?
