Make a Play Tent -- Spark Your Child's Imagination!

When I was a kid I spent HOURS playing outside with my friends. The only prop we had? Sticks. In contrast, my kids seem to want someone, or something, to entertain them. From Nintendo to Netflix, TV to iPods, XBoxes to Wiis, and so on.

So this summer I decided to make a Summer Reading Tent.

And for an hour a day my kids get to spend time in the tent, reading or playing, or daydreaming. I stocked some new reads plus fun coloring books and snacks.

And the best part is that it was easy and inexpensive to build — PVC pipe and tablecloths I found on clearance.

I thought it would be a struggle getting them to spend time in the tent. But guess what?? They want to spend most of the day in there. It’s become a haven for Littlest Pet Shop animals and Barbies too! I also have found that the time they spend in the tent together has made them better friends.

Now I’m thinking I should make a blogging tent I can escape to for a little quiet time every day!
