New Year Cards: The Procrastinator’s Holiday Greeting

Every year, the chaos of the holiday season gets to me, and something has to give. Christmas cards are the first to go at our house — not because I don’t love them!

I love sharing holiday greetings with friends & family, providing our loved ones with a snapshot of our lives for the last year, and choosing fun photos that represent us where we are this season. But, I can do all that with 2012 New Years Cards from Tiny Prints!

I love storyboard cards or greeting cards with room for lots of photos. Our family doesn’t do posed portraits as holiday greetings. That is just not a representation of our family. I prefer candid snapshots that capture who my girls are and what our family did throughout the year. This card was absolutely perfect — twelve photo slots for a month by month look at our 2011.

Plus, the cards ship free — or pay for postage to have your cards mailed directly to your friends & family. You can also save 15% with the coupon code at the top of their site — extended through 1/3 for procrastinators like me. That leaves me plenty of time to get our greeting cards in the mail now that holiday activities have died down.

So, it’s not too late to share our favorite parts of 2011 with our loved ones. Here’s a month by month look at our year:

  • January: A Year of Family Fun 1 of 13
January: A Year of Family Fun
We set aside one day each month designated for family fun. We kicked off with rock climbing, then visited museums, sporting events, and playgrounds all year long.
  • February: Brenia Knits 2 of 13
    February: Brenia Knits
In 2010, Brenia developed a love of knitting, thanks to one of the fabulous teachers at her school. This is her first finished product — she was so proud of that hat she wore it daily, indoors and out.
  • March: Let’s Go Fly a Kite 3 of 13
March: Let's Go Fly a Kite
The girls love both crafts & science, so it only made sense to combine them eventually. We made our own kites from brown paper bags — and they had a blast!
  • April: Night to Remember 4 of 13
    April: Night to Remember
The hubby and I continued alphabet dating this year, including an adult prom. It was so fun to get dressed up and enjoy a fabulous evening together.
  • May: Softball MVP 5 of 13
    May: Softball MVP
Both Brenia and Lorelai joined softball teams this spring. Brenia's team made it all the way to the county finals! She is so proud of her MVP balls.
  • June: Track & Field 6 of 13
    June: Track & Field
Stacia tried her hand (feet?) at track & field this summer. She enjoyed the hurdles but found she was best at long jump.
  • July: I’m on a boat! 7 of 13
    July: I'm on a boat!
We spent Independence Day at Lake Shafer. The girls loved watching fireworks over Indiana Beach from the boat.
  • August: Down on the Farm 8 of 13
    August: Down on the Farm
As part of our family fun, we spent time at the State Fair, zoos, and farms. The goats gravitated towards Brenia everywhere we went!
  • September: Locks for Love 9 of 13
    September: Locks for Love
After getting her first haircut at age 4 for Locks of Love, Stacia has only ever had her hair trimmed. She went with a completely new (and grownup) look when she donated 13 inches again this year.
  • October: Apple Picking 10 of 13
    October: Apple Picking
Apple picking is an annual Sokol tradition. The girls love to take a hayride, enjoy apple cider slushies, and pick more apples than any one family should be able to eat. And yet, they manage to finish them all!
  • November: Meet Yeti 11 of 13
    November: Meet Yeti
After saying goodbye to Indy, after 14 years, I was convinced I never wanted another dog. Then I met this one, and she kinda stole my heart.
  • December: Girl Scout Christmas 12 of 13
    December: Girl Scout Christmas
Lorelai has spent years wishing she could be a Girl Scout like her sisters. Now, she is a Daisy herself! Her favorite activity so far was building a gingerbread house with her troop for the city Christmas festival.

    Here's to 2012!
I can't wait to see what the next year will bring. Happy New Year to all of you!
