Stockings for All

What is it that they say about the cobbler’s children having no shoes? Let’s just say that Mr. Boneau was on year six of our marriage with no stocking hung by the chimney with care. What kind of DIYer am I? I am proud to say that my husband is now “with sock”. I pulled this cutie together in an hour or two on Sunday so, of course, I have to share.

Here’s what I did…1. Trace a stocking onto felt and cut out two layers.

2. I picked up this adorable Santa embroidery pattern from Urban Threads. No embroidery machine? You can also grab it as a handstitch pattern of high-res art. Embroider a design on the stocking. Hand stitch on some felt letters, maybe a reinforced toe and heel. Whatever you wish!

3. Put your two layers together right-side facing and sew around edge.

4. Turn right side out.

5. Add trim to top. I used a quilt binding technique to add a little felt cuff. Stitch on a little hook and you are finished!
