The Bald Barbie

Have you seen the campaigns for a bald Barbie?

Well, since everyone seems to be talking about it…..I may as well chime in……I, for one, would LOVE a bald Barbie. Let me start by saying, my daughter doesn’t have cancer…..but I do. I know she would be ecstatic to have a Barbie that resembles Mommy. For the few weeks I’ve been contemplating the fact that I was going to shave my head I could have been role playing in the Barbie Dream House with all my daughter’s other Barbies. It would have been easier to explain…..I wouldn’t have to shave the head of one of her coveted Barbies.

I tend to be a toy snob……that’s why we don’t own a ton. I don’t like fake Barbies…….so yes, it would ROCK if Mattel manufactured it. I’m sure they’ll do it eventually….why not do it? It would ROCK even more if some of the proceeds went to something cancer related. I’m sure executives at Mattel have already been talking about it. I would be. Companies LOVE when customers suggest their next big thing. It will take a while to get to market so I’ll be patient. I have a good nose for these things…..I can see it happening already.

I’ll be the first to line up to buy one. For the naysayers, please read my friends’ blog post about the minimizing of pediatric cancer…..they recently lost their precious daughter Saoirse to a rare cancer Neuroblastoma.

What do YOU think about the bald Barbie campaign?

Check out my “rite of passage” video too where my daughter shaves my head! Barbie will rock her do!
