The Benefits of Berries

By ashleyhackshaw |

Summer always reminds me of picking strawberries with my family. Unfortunately we can’t continue that tradition because my daughter is deathly afraid of bees….but we do buy them from the store! Berries have some great health benefits: :: Berries are full of antioxidants which research shows strengthens the immune system. :: Red berries are full of potassium and vitamin C. :: Blueish berries have flavanoids, powerful antioxidants. :: Cranberries and blueberries have been known to reduce the chance of bladder infections. :: Berries are low in calories and can help regulate blood sugar. (source: Try adding berries to your daily nutrition….throw a few in a salad! On the go? Wendy’s has a new salad, the Berry Almond Chicken Salad that has entire cup of fruit in it!  That’s healthy eating on the road….. A big thanks to Wendy’s for sponsoring this campaign. I can’t wait to try this new salad. Unfortunately, I don’t eat many berries except in summer, so I’m doing my best to load up.

  2. Riley says:

I love any berry you put on my plate–blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries–you name it! And I’ve had this salad and I LOVE it. There’s something about fresh strawberries mixed with that asiago cheese that makes my mouth water…

  3. Lenore says:

Jane, I can’t wait to try the salad either! It looks so tasty–and I can’t believe it’s available at a fast food place. I’ve sworn off fast food for the summer (i know, i know..we’ll see how long i last), but I think I’ll make an exception to try this salad. Review to come!

  4. Alix says:

Berries are awesome! So much fiber, so few calories, so many antioxidants and they taste SO good!

  5. Bonnie says:

This is such great news…my new job is right next door to a Wendy’s! Good thing to know if i’m ever in a rush I can still get a healthy lunch!

  6. Colleen says:

When I was little, my church held a yearly Strawberry Festival. Some of my best childhood memories! I’ve loved strawberries ever since

  7. Wendy says:

Berry interesting… haha, sorry I couldn’t help it! Thanks though, I always knew berries were healthy but didn’t understand exactly why. It’s helpful to know the exact nutrients :)
