Welcome to the Season of Fun

Oh, how I love Autumn! The cool, crisp air. The warm, tasty foods. And most importantly, the frugal family fun!

October is full of fun events and perfect for simple outdoor fun. Each community has its own ways to celebrate — harvest festivals, sporting events, apple & pumpkin fairs and the tail-end of farmer’s market season are especially popular.

Check the schedule of events at area parks, libraries, churches, visitors’ bureaus and other community centers for information and details on festivals in your area. You’ll find hayrides at the pumpkin patch, corn mazes on the farm, and amazing deals at u-pick orchards.

We usually go apple picking, but the drought has put a damper on it this year. We’ll have to find something new to liven up our fall. There are haunted houses, farm days, and gorgeous weather just begging for a walk to the park or a day of geocaching. Most of it is free for the taking.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the fall?
