Who Says Hostess Gifts Are Old Fashioned? 15 Hostess Gift Ideas

via Anthropologie

I was recently invited to a party at the home of a new friend. It was a lovely affair, with wine and cheeses and these amazing almonds I’ve been dreaming of since, and it wasn’t until I’d arrived and set down my bag in the bedroom that I realized I’d completely forgotten a hostess gift. I felt terrible.

I would say that yes, it is probably my most ultimate goal to be the type of person who gets invited to parties often and always remembers to bring a thoughtful hostess gift. I am not that type of person just yet, but oh boy, I am working on it.

I think the trick is having a couple go-to hostess gift ideas perfected, so when a last minute invite arrives, or when a party happens to fall at the end of a very chaotic week, you’re still prepared to be the you of your dreams. Who wouldn’t want to be the you of your dreams?

After the jump, 15 hostess gift ideas cultivated from around the web to get you started on your repertoire o’ thoughtful gifts, so you can be ready with me.

Love this post! Except I never thought of it as old fashioned…? I guess everyone in our circles knows proper etiquette.:) Nice to see some new ideas instead of my usual go-to of last minute grocery store stop for wine or flower bouquet:)

These are such great suggestions. I’m always looking for fresh ideas for hostess gifts – because, let’s face it, we often get invited to the same places – and these are all wonderful.

I love these ideas! In a pinch we have bottles of wine that we can grab. But I hate just bringing that.
