Do you love to antique? I do. One of my favorite ways to waste a Saturday afternoon involves a giant fountain Diet Coke, nowhere to be, and hours upon hours to spend slowly perusing thrift stores and antique malls. I swear, I could go all day.
When I lived in Idaho I had myself a favorite antique mall. Northern Idaho is such an untapped market for antiques, and it seemed like every time I went I had the entire place to myself! And one thing I’d commonly see as I strolled slowly and browsed about was these old hen on nest covered dishes in all these beautiful colors. They always made me laugh, but I never brought one home with me. Though now I’m regretting it! I was just reading up on hen on nest dishes online and the history is fascinating!
Luckily, there are more than a few options available online for purchase (though whether or not they’re authentic is something I’d leave up to the experts). After the jump I’ve rounded up some of my favorite hen in nest dishes (some vintage, some not, with sources), and some of my favorite rooster dishes too, just for kicks and giggles!
Would you decorate with collectible hen on nest dishes?
