Wow With Wallpaper

By Melanie Blodgett |

modern wallpaper
I mentioned on my blog this week that I really like wallpaper and I instantly got a call from a good friend. She just moved into an older home where every surface was covered in wallpaper and she’s been scraping it off for the last couple of months. Needless to say, she was trying to talk me out of even considering it. Listening to her advice I still can’t shake my love. There are so many modern and fresh patterns available out there now how am I supposed to resist? Just take a peek at some of these spaces and you’ll see what I mean.

Don't overlook small spaces. Wallpaper can make an impact there too.

Our kitchen and breakfast nook has a similar pattern done by the previous owner with either a stencil or large stamp, I’m not sure. It’s gorgeous and better than wallpaper because if you tire of it you can easily paint over it.

@mbaker stenciling sounds like a great idea. I think you’d have to be careful as to how thickly the paint went on just so it’s not bumpy when it’s repainted.

I think wallpaper is different now than it was even 10 years ago. It’s easier to remove. And much more stylish. It also has a timeless quality. Do it. I think you’ll love it.

I really like the strong colour and pattern in that small space — fantastic!
