Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon and non-Oscar-winner Ryan Phillippe are heading into a nasty custody battle over their two children, Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3. Ryan recently asked a Los Angeles court to grant him joint custody with “equal allocated” visiting rights and is claiming that Reese’s new relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal is taking time away from their children. Phillippe is also claiming that his ex-wife’s hectic work schedule and “obsessive” commitment to her career are compromising her abilities as a parent to their young children, which Witherspoon vehemently denies. According to friends, Witherspoon is angered by Phillippe’s claims and is prepared to fight for her children, telling her ex-husband, “You can’t take my kids.” Witherspoon filed for divorce last November amidst rumors that Phillippe was having an affair with actress Abbie Cornish, his co-star in the upcoming Stop Loss.
