Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey Host Autism Benefit
Jenny McCarthy and boyfriend (and great communicator) Jim Carrey hosted a cocktail party to support UCLA Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program in Pacific Palisades, California on Thursday. The program provides support for children with autism, a condition that Jenny’s 5 year old son has.
Jenny has become quite a spokesperson for Autism, but critics lashed out after her recent interview with Oprah Winfrey whereby she may have mislead parents of Autistic children into thinking they’re children could be “pulled out out of their world,” by connecting with them and monitoring a special diet. For many, it’s not that simple.

She was very passionate and I learned a lot. As a lucky mom with kids that don’t have autism I was reminded once again to be grateful. She said many, many times that this is what worked for her son. And I say worked, she did talk of all the work.
Can’t tell you though, as a mom of a little boy with autism, how many people have talked to me since the infamous Oprah, and told me that diet and supplements can cure autism … If only it were that easy…I wish that Oprah would have talked a little more about the intensive therapy Jenny’s son Evan received at UCLA too. Glad to see that Jenny and Jim are hosting an event to support them..
I agree- she made it VERY clear that what worked for Evan wouldn’t work for every kid, but she feels that if she can help even one family, she’ll have done her job. She’s a pretty amazing mom.
She said it would not work for every family like 50 times on that show. That must have been when the “critics” went to the bathroom. If she manages to help just one kid that is worth all the effort. I love this lady. Fierce, loves her kid and still really goofy. Jim Carrey is what, 80 years old now?
