I feel badly for Rob Lowe’s family that they’re facing such an ugly controversy, but you know? I’m maybe feeling a little sorry for the nanny, too. I mean, as Karen reported here earlier today, she’s not only saying that she didn’t blackmail the Lowe family, she’s alleging sexual harassment. And given Rob Lowe’s history (that whole dirty video with underage girls thing? anyone, anyone?) I don’t know that I’m prepared to discount her claims just ’cause Rob says that I should.
According to the Associated Press, Jessica Gibson stated in legal papers filed Monday in Santa Barbara,
California, that Lowe touched her inappropriately several times between
September 2005 and January 2008. Which, again – this is a guy who’s gotten into trouble in the past for, um, interfering with young women. Sometimes very young women.
So I dunno. On the one hand, celebrities are easy targets for opportunists. On the other, this young woman worked for the Lowes for seven years and was reportedly excellent with their children, which suggests against a set-up. And, as I’ve already said: ROB LOWE. My husband refers to him as Raw Blow for a reason. He’s not exactly Mr. Clean Hands.
We’ll have to wait and see as the he-said/she-said plays out, but it seems clear that no matter what the truth? It’s all ugly.
