Matthew McConaughey To Plant Son’s Placenta In Orchard

You know, I tried to come up with a witty title for this post, but why bother?  What could possibly be better than ‘Matthew McConaughey To Plant Son’s Placenta In Orchard’?

Apparently the bongo-playing new dad is going to do just that, practicing a ritual that is common in many cultures.  McConaughey, whose girlfriend Camila Alves gave birth to their son Levi in July, saved the placenta and will plant it in an orchard.

”When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river … and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength,” the actor said in an interview.

(Wanna have a placenta tree of your own? Find out how here.)

Of course, the big question is: Where is he keeping that placenta?  A word of caution – if you’re at McConaughey’s house for a barbecue, don’t pull any meat out of his freezer without asking first.

In New Zealand it is quite common to plant your children’s placenta, my parents buried both mine and my brothers placentas and it was nice growing up alongside ‘my’ tree.
