Kate Winslet Loves Her Own Butt
Men (and some women) have been loving Kate Winslet’s ass for years. Now, she’s going to start loving it, too. But not for the reasons you might think – Winslet says she is tired of torturing themselves over the size of their behinds.
“I don’t know a single woman who doesn’t stand up and check the tushie before she walks out the door,” she said in an interview with Nightline. “I’ve decided I am going to start loving my backside, really just saying, yes. Because I don’t know anyone who does that, you know? And for my daughter [Mia, 8], I want to be able to say to her, I love this.
“[Young women] look at all of us, myself included, on these magazine covers and they think, ‘my God, how does she get skin like that?’” she continued. “And I can tell you, I have so many blemishes under this makeup that have been so fabulously covered. I promise you. I promise you.
“But I did realize a few years ago that no one actually talks about this retouching thing. It’s like a secret or something,” she says. “I’m damned if it’s going to be a secret anymore. I really want these young women to know we don’t look like this.”
Bravo to Kate for standing up to the unrealistic expectations women face from the media. And as a parent of girls myself, I give extra kudos to her for setting a good example for her daughter Mia.
Now if I could just stop staring at my butt in the mirror…
