Mad Men Creator’s 8-Year-Old Prefers Monocles and Smoking Jackets

It’s hard to say exactly what makes some people strive for absolute fashion perfection, while the rest of us are satisfied with t-shirts from Target. Nature, nurture, genetics, etc… Whatever it is, Arlo Weiner (son of the now famous, Matthew Weiner, creator of AMC’s smash hit Mad Men) has definitely got it.

This dapper little gent has a wardrobe so filled with plaid and top hats, that it makes most well-dressed men look like uncivilized ingrates. He’s even been known to wear a tuxedo to school.

I know what you’re thinking, but according to his mom, Linda Brettler, Arlo’s clasmates don’t give him too much grief over his unusually mature sensibilities. Arlo’s high-minded tastes have earned him internet fame (the very best kind, let’s face it), and he even made an appearance or two at LA Fashion Week decked out in a tweed jacket, bowtie, and a monocle just for good measure.

Last month, GQ dubbed him the “America’s Most Stylish Eight-Year-Old,” doing an entire profile of Arlo’s style from his gold lame’ dinner jackets to his collection of fine fedoras. Says Brettler: “he really likes the Victorian stuff, the ruffled collars, the dandy look.”

I love this kid! I wish I had his style. And it’s AMC, not A&E. Best show on tv and you put it on the wrong network, shame on you!
