World’s Oldest Mom Lied to Get IVF

Oh, this makes me kind of sick. 67 year old Carmela Bousada who gave birth to twin sons way back when she was a spry 66 has now admitted that she lied to fertility doctors to get an IVF treatment.

She told them she was 55. 

According to this article on News of the World Carmela hadn’t actually had a period in 18 years, but she decided that she needed to have a baby after reading stories in magazines about older women giving birth. So she flew to the United States, spent her life savings and got “knocked up”.

It serves her right. I was 31 when my twins were born and I had a very involved husband and I clearly (well, not clearly. Nothing is clear when you have two month old babies) remember thinking “I am too old for this shit”. Ha! Good luck Carmela. You are going to need it. Just wait until they turn three and you are 70.
