Old advertisements are the gift that keeps on giving.
Take this gem, posted on BoingBoing, found originally at the Learning 2 Share blog. A few favorite lines:

Parents (mine) in the 1940′s-50′s were obsessed with elimination. They gave us “ex-lax”, passing it off as chocolate. It looked like chocolate but tasted like —-.
Clearly the school nurse does know a lot about children. she even wears a Frisbee on her head in case they need some on the spot entertainment.
