I wonder why the court didn’t just terminate parental rights? There must be more to the story here. Parental rights get terminated for less abuse than that!

We discussed this case in a Psych class I took once. We were talking about “feral children”. There is a website about the phenomenon. If I recall correctly, Dani had older siblings that were not neglected as she was. Very very sad case though.

Keith, you nailed it on the head. The justice system is anything but just. This little girl will suffer for a lifetime while biological mom sits and watches t.v. in her own home for a couple of years and goes on her merry way. What a load of crap.
What I am wondering is why they didn’t prosecute the mom all the way and let the system run it’s course until the state terminated the rights. I know a few foster families who have waited it out because although the parents had no involvement, they refused to sign. After about a year of no contact the state terminates the rights regardless of a signature. Seems like a stupid thing to plea bargain.
As far as house arrest, sounds like her house is worse than prison.
The adoptive family sounds truly amazing!

I agree keith. I would like to vomit in a plant just thinking that this woman (def. not a mother) is out there, and potentially able to breed again. ugh.

So, let me get this straight……If you abuse a little girl to the point that it makes police vomit in disguist and the girl is possibly permanently harmed and you don’t do any jail time but grow a few plants of canabis and spend 10 years in jail…….wow, what a great system.
