quote Shana “And how is a little girl in a tunic with leggings sexy?”
Long flowing hair, red lipstick, skin tight pants, jewelry. Come on, don’t be glib – no one said “sexy” (besides you) – they said “sexed up” meaning the little girl has become aware of appearance and gender roles. Her new appearance is like many of the tweens these days, which is disturbing to me. IMHO it is a failure in parenting.
I do not see what is wrong the new Dora. The old one is still going to exist. It is pretty smart marketing on their part to let Dora grow with them. I hear she will be going on nice eco-ventures with her friends and stuff. Honestly, why does it matter? And how is a little girl in a tunic with leggings sexy?
They’re doing it to everything. Nobody seems to care, but even “My Little Pony” has undergone recent changes- they now have smaller, thinner bodies and disproportionately large heads (like all the other anorexic-looking whatevers out there). It’s not as extreme- I just want to know what was wrong with the old friendly, adorable, kinda chubby pony design?
Holly Hobbie anyone??? They did a number on her too.
The new strawberry shortcake makes me sad. Sure she is modern and cute but there was nothing wrong with the old one. That’s who I grew up knowing and loving. I don’t think she is so outdated that she needed to be changed.
I have never seen Dora but I do not think she needed a change either. Companies came up with these images and concepts for a reason, so why do they feel the need to give makeovers to their base characters?
