6 Reasons Why it Sucks to Be a Kid Today

By | May 26th, 2009 at 1:00 pm

Rebecca Kelly feels very sorry for today’s youth. We had it better. According to her, “back in the good old days, being a kid was awesome, but now today’s
youth is choking on yuppified bulls*** like organic nonsense, parental
controls, and more.”

1) Food is No Fun

When we were kids we had lunches packed with Fruit By the Foot,
Teddy Grahams, and Squeeze Its. Now kids get organic crap like fruit
leathers, vegetable-flavored

Juvenile diabetes has nothing to do with obesity. Young people can get Type 2 diabetes from being overweight, but that is a totally different condition than juvenile or type 1 diabetes. If you would like more info, please visit the following informative link:

We get most of our girl clothes from Target, Old Navy, Baby Gap, and stores like Ross and Marshall’s…there are some modest choices out there for little girls. There’s a lot of “mature” stuff, as well, but we have options. We do buy a lot of boy’s stuff, because I can only take so much pink and purple. They don’t make a lot of army-green stuff for little girls. Also my husband is obsessed with his Camaro and felt like she needed something with a Camaro on it.

I have two young girls and I may hold the corner on modesty. I buy most of my girls’ clothes from a resale shop as the clothes (even a few years back) were more modest. My girls have always had clothing rules that were just a fact of life and so I don’t get much argument from them. Skirts and dresses go to the knee, absolutely no writing on the butt and nothing disrespectful on the shirt. It is hard to find new clothes that follow those 3 basic rules.
Thanks, Cole, for again making me laugh. I love these lists!

Excellent, Cole and agreed on all counts.

ChiLaura, I’m going to shock you by… agreeing! (hehe)
My plan is to dress my daughter is clothing from the boy’s department… simple t-shirts that don’t bare her tiny belly, plain shorts and pants, etc. She looks great in blue so we should be set for quite awhile.

i dont let my daughter wear any of that stuff EXCEPT for leggings under everything. i welcome it. layer it on sweetie.

i think fruit leathers are pretty tasty though. have you tried clif kids fruit rope things? those things are amazing.

On #2: No kidding! It doesn’t make clothes shopping a whole lot of fun for parents either. I have two boys who’ve managed to stay pretty cute and innocent in their truck shirts, but I don’t know what I’m going to do if I have a girl. Better learn how to sew…
