5-Year Old Boy Delivers Baby Sister
Once when our cat killed a mouse and left it, headless, on the living room rug, I briefly considered asking my then-8-year-old son to help me deal with the tiny carcass. I demurred, knowing he’s not good with “yucky stuff”.
I can’t imagine him having helped deliver either of his two siblings, but that’s exactly what FIVE-year old John John Barreiros did.
His mom Christina screamed for his help at 3 am when her labor reached a crisis point. Husband John was at work and Christina was alone with their three children. Though an ambulance was on its way it was clear that baby Aaliyah had her own plans for making a quick appearance; John John was the closest thing to help and even used his own shoelace to help tie off the umbilical cord.
Sibling rivalry? Maybe later, but not now, that’s for sure. At any rate, John John has a great story to tell.
