Disney Princesses Get Nasty
There’s no major love lost between me and the Disney princesses, but I’ve never outright hated them. After all, my kid likes that Belle reads just as much as she thinks that yellow gown is the cat’s meow.
Still, I never expected to get all mama bear on behalf of someone messing with princesskind.
Maybe it’s just that the following images would scare the bejesus out of half the four-year-olds I know (yes, the other four-year-olds would think they’re wicked – in a GOOD way).
Artist Jeffrey Thomas is likewise wicked – wicked talented and wicked funny (check out his blog). But he has created a series of “twisted princesses” that gave me the heebie jeebies!
Check out the Lion King’s sweet pride and joy:

I’d be heading off to hang with the farting warthog if that was my girlfriend too.
Or how about Ariel looking like Ursula crawled up her tail:

Swim Flounder, as fast as that chubby little fin can carry you!
Whoever said you couldn’t mess with a good thing? Check out the rest over at Deviant Art.

Princess Ariel commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amReminds me of the scary Alice In Wonderland creations. If you think this is bad, though, be glad you haven’t seen the X-rated versions some animators have done. (Oh, and Flounder looks like he’s already been filleted or something.)

Treespeed commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amSo cool. Most fairy tales are pretty dark and it’s nice to see some artwork that reflects that fact. For adults obviously, as stated before. Still, it would also be nice to see something for the kids that isn’t so dang saccharine.
theGrumbles commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI thought these were really cool (definetly for adults) but some of the ones I like best aren’t shown- Check out the Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty versions!
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amThose are cool. And meant for adults.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amThey do seem more like Zombie Princesses, though.
A song to call the forest creatures, then eat their brains.
