Meet Chrissa, the Newest, Lamest American Girl Doll
I remember with perfect clarity the Christmas that I got a
Samantha doll as a present. I was well acquainted with all of the
American Girls by then, having studied their varied histories and enviously
played with my friends

GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
GOSH!!
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI didn’t really mean it and if you were a REAL ag fan, you would know already. And I don’t need “Nina” to tell me what to do. Also, don’t write an artical if you don’t know the facts. And Lindsay, you are partly right =)
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amUm… Chrissa is not a real person. I have both of Chrissa’s books which say that she is fictional, in the back. The contest is for the “Real Girl of the year.” The winners do not get made into dolls. Just wanted to clarify for the people who thought that.
I think Chrissa is an adorable doll.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amLisa wrote “Man your retarded” well Lisa you are very offensive. I have a “retarded” brother. People who are disabled are people to and have feelings that get hurt by people like you. Maybe AG should touch on this subject for ignorant people like you that still think it is ok to use terms such as retarded in ways that they shouldnt be used. You need to grow up and watch your offensive mouth.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI found some great deals on Chrissa Dolls and Accessories by going to this site – American Girl Doll Chrissa
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amShe isn’t replacing her. She’s just like Nicki or Mia or Jess, Marisol, Kailey, and Lindsey!!
Man, you’re kinda retarded!!
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI in fact, like Chrissa. Her story is based on the life of a real girl (living in 2009). Wouldn’t you be offended if the real life Chrissa read your posting??? Oh and by the way, Chrissa is not replacing Samantha. She is a today doll, not a historical doll. I disagree- Meet Chrissa, the Newest Today American Girl Doll.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI heard from AG that Samantha will not be retired, but only moved to a new section called the Archives where she won’t be for sale but only to be remembered for her historical appearance. Chrissa will be here for one year only. My opinion is that AG should create a doll for the decade of 2010 and she could be African-American, because they have never had an African-American girl of the year.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amno, she is just girl of the year. she will be gone in 2010
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amSamantha has been around for almost 23 years. If you wanted her, you should have gotten her by now. Get over it.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amSamantha is being replaced by “Rebecca”,a JEWISH GIRL!!!! All i have to say about that is its about dang time ya know!!Yes samantha is cute and spoiled little white girl with tons of adorable fancy stuff and then her uncle adopts her and her best friends family..cute story. but lets get a little more diverse with our history please. MOST of the dolls are white and rather generic with exceotion to kirsten and how people are dieing and tragedy strikes at every turn….siigh so depressing. I’m glad theyre also comming out with thier first Indian from india doll Sonali. bet she’ll be pretty generic though.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amChrissa is going to be awesome!! I got $150 for xmas so i will buy her!!!
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amI really like Chrissa I think that it is good that American girl is focusing on situations that could happen today with girls.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amChrissa is NOT the replacement of Samantha. Every year American Girl has a contest (for the past 4 years or so), where a REAL girl is chosen to be made into “The American Girl Of the Year”. Chrissa the doll, is based on Chrissa the human girl.
Samantha unfortunately is retiring, and rumor has it, she will be replaced with another HISTORICAL doll later in 2009 (possibly spring time?…one such rumor is that she will be replaced by a doll from the same time period, possibly named ‘Rebecca’, who is Jewish).
I do like the idea of “Rebecca” but think that Mattel is only retiring “Samantha” to be greedy, and make fast cash while people rush to buy her things before the holidays (also causing many people simply buying the products to sell at 2x the price to young girls (or their mothers) who were not quick enough to get Samantha while she was still available via AG).
I still love American Girl dolls, but liked the company much better before it was taken over by Matel.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amChrissa isn’t replacing Samantha: I have confirmation that she is being replaced by another Historical.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amWell…. to me Chrissa is ok but they should of made another doll that has different dfetures like brown long hair with dark brown eyes that is just has a lot of little brothers and sisters and her mom is always busy and she never gets to spend time with her mom plus i think they should of not retired Sammantha they should of retired Kaya which no one buys EVERYONE love Sammantha i have a just like you doll that looks like her!
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amIf Chrissa’s story can help just one girl overcome bullying and learn to feel good about herself, then yes, she’s worth it. I applaud AG for not only wanting girls to have a strong appreciation and connection with girls of the past, but to want to empower them to become strong girls who will help shape the future. In today’s world, they need all the help they can get. Bullying is getting worse and younger and younger children are becoming victims. Kids are committing suicide because of it. If Chrissa can somehow help turn that around for even one girl, more power to her and AG.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 ami dont know why they would retire samantha but the news was that they needed room to make more dolls. Replacing samantha will be Rebecca, a jewish girl living during the holocaust. chrissa will be replacing mia, girl of the year 2008. You shouldnt hate chrissa at all because she is not a historical doll she is a today doll. who will help teenage girls one today deal with bullying.
