Teacher in Affair with 6th-Grader to Host ‘Hot for Teacher’ Night
Remember Mary Kay Letourneau, the teacher who was convicted of raping a sixth-grader at her school? Well, she’s back in the news (as she is every few years) for yet another questionable act: she’s hosting “Hot for Teacher Night” at a Seattle bar.
Ha ha! Hot for teacher! Get it? Every boy’s fantasy comes true — screw the law! Rock ‘n’ roll!
A paychecks a paycheck and all that, but, geez, Mary, are you sure about this?
The bar owner, Mike Morris, argues that Letourneau has served her sentence and now it’s time to have fun. But would this be so much fun if it were a male gym coach, convicted of raping the cheerleading captain, promoting the re-release of “Porkies”? Why does Letourneau’s and Fualaau’s relationship always get painted as a quirky little love story?
Letourneau, now 47, wound up marrying the student she had sex with, Vili Fualaau, who will be guest DJing at the “Hot for Teacher” event. At the time of her crimes, she was 34 and he was 12 years old. The couple has two daughters, who hopefully aren’t being told to embrace sexual advances from their summer camp counselors, but perhaps I’m just meddling.
I can’t help but wonder what her children think of this — in addition to her daughters with Fualaau (the youngest is 12), she had four from her first marriage.

Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amthis is sick but if you think about it the twelve yearold child also had a part in this and she should have gotten abborted as the kids would go through distress ans humiliation in thiere future
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amTwo-year age difference between peers at or over the age of consent? Not a problem for me. 22-year age difference + position of authority + TWELVE YEAR OLD! = All kinds of bad. “Hot For Teacher”, my a**.
I’m glad Mary Kay Letourneau was jailed for rape, no matter what she and Vili Fualaau are to each other now. I’m glad Matthew Koso was charged with rape as well, even though he crossed state lines in order to marry his pregnant 14yo girlfriend Crystal (with her mother’s permission)… because he was freaking TWENTY and she was TWELVE when they started “dating”. That is not cool.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amUugh, I don’t know, I’ve always been kind of on the fence in this issue. On the one hand, it’s consensual and no one gets hurt, but on the other hand he WAS only 12. On this particular case I don’t approve, but if say a 19 year old had sex with his 17 year old girl friend, I don’t see the problem.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amHot For Teacher is a really, really rockin song.
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amSigh. If Warhol hadn’t identified the syndrome, do you think we’d still have to endure all the lunatics grasping for their 15 minutes of fame?
JeanneSager commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amWhat’s always bugged me is the idea that a female teacher doing it is a guy’s fantasy, but a male teacher doing it is a perv.
They’re BOTH pervs who abuse their power.
Still, can’t believe this case was that long ago! A 12-year-old?
