The Verdict is In for Mom Who Kicked Kids to Curb

Posted by on May 7th, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Love her or loathe her, the Scarsdale mom who booted her two daughters from the car when they wouldn’t stop fighting has captured the attention of parents everywhere. Now, a judge has ruled in the case.

White Plains City Court Judge Eric Press today ruled that he will dismiss all charges against Madlyn Primoff if she stays clean for six months.

As you might have heard, Primoff was arrested April 19 after kicking her two quarreling kids out of the car in downtown White Plains. Her 12-year-old daughter managed to get back in the car. Primoff drove around the block, but when she returned her 10-year-old daughter was gone. A passerby had seen the young girl crying and took her over to a squad car. When Primoff couldn’t find her daughter, she called police; when she went to pick up her daughter at the station, she was arrested and charged with child endangerment

After her appearance in court, Primoff said, “Clearly I made a mistake.”

Clearly. Do you think she got off too easy? Or was all this much ado about nothing?

In today’s hysterical climate that makes so many things “child abuse” it was IMO unwise on her part. But that’s all it was. Certainly not something she should be punished for. Unfortunately her children probably took away the wrong lesson from this.

I agree with Robin. I was just utterly baffled that this made the top section of MS-NBC. “Mom makes fighting kids walk”… oh, the horror!

So, her kids were fighting, she dropped them off in a public place, went around the block? Seriously, that sounds appropriate to me. Her kids are 10 & 12, not babies.
