I really enjoyed reading you post. I can so relate to everything written since I am a mother of four.

I was a single mom and didn’t feel appreciated until the girls grew up. Now I know how important I was to them. I agree that you should NOT buy them something. I think most moms would prefer you DO something. Like clean the house or mow the yard. (Yeah, that’s going to happen) My kids always said “We don’t want to do that. Can’t we just buy you something?” when they were little. Sure, go ahead and spend my money on something for me. That is what moms are for. Oh, yeah, hide the thing you bought for yourself before you give her the bag.
