When Parents Talk "Street" — WTF?
Unfortunately “You go girl!” has left the safe confines of “ugh” ville and spread its evil octopus arms to the parenting populace and now inhabits even the whitest and dorkiest of suburban malls.
Here are 5 of the worst worst WORST offenders.
1. “Da Bomb” – As in, “My baby is ‘Da Bomb.’ Huh?
2. “Bling” – Grandma talking to her granddaughter: “Does grandbaby need some bling?”-blech!!!
3. “Off the Hook” – “Our weekend was off the hook!” Yah. Cuz running around on the “slip and slide” is totally wild, people!
4. “What UP??!” – This is so disturbing when it’s two suburban dads greeting each other while mowing their lawns. It just doesn’t sit right.
5. “Va Jay Jay” – This probably isn’t even technically street talk but can we please ban this forever and ever from all conversations? If Judd Apatow can say “vagina” 800 times in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” can’t we just say it correctly please?

Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amAww-c’mon – I LOVE baby mama/daddy! – ok, maybe not for an actual spouse…but when I was a single mom I found it really useful (actually it still is for distinguishing between my husband and my daughter’s father) – plus it always makes giggle…..
Anonymous commented on Jan 01 70 at 12:00 amMy 8-year-old ends sentences with “yo” and also speaks quite often of “her” god (or possibly “gaw”), who by the sound of things requires frequent admonition.
I swear I didn’t influence her in any way. It was probably her baby daddy.

Though I am guilty of asking my Little Spitfire “Who’s got the booty?” To which she replies, “I got the booty.” I’m in therapy to correct this, and then it’s off to shock therapy to get me to stop saying “no worries” and “my bad.”
