Awesome Garbage Truck Man Makes Autistic Boy’s Day (VIDEO)

We hear so much bad news and complaining and sadness on the internet these days that stories like this one deserve every drop of attention they can muster.

Out in sunny Southern California, according to a New York Daily News piece, a 5-year-old autistic boy named Daniel Mulligan just loves the garbage truck that comes by his house. And so every Monday, he waits outside so that he can watch the big blue monster roll up, collect his family’s trash, and munch it down.

Well, as it happens, that is the kind of big-time fan that would be hard to miss for any garbage truck driver, right?

Right.

Which leads us to one very, very cool guy named Manuel Sanchez. Manuel, who steers and operates a recycling vehicle, most certainly did notice young Daniel out there cheering him on and getting excited whenever he pulled up to the Mulligan house. So, he decided that one good garbage truck deserves another.

One day recently when he spotted Daniel in his usual spot, Manuel hopped down out of his truck, and as you’ll see in the video below, presented his biggest booster a little gift: a big bag full of a garbage truck! A beautiful plastic toy that Daniel can play with while he’s waiting for the real ones to swing by!

It’s a short video, and one that could easily be missed in today’s rapid-fire technological avalanche, and yet it is just the sort of thing that I kind of figure we each need to see every now and then, just so we remember that, when it’s all said and done, there is still a lot of awesomeness going down all around us.

Well done, Mr. Sanchez.

Well done, indeed.
