You know, sometimes it’s nice just to let the big stuff go and take a big old breath of who-gives-a-crap, huh?
Day in and day out, we seem to all be doing our best to get by, to make some scratch and raise our kids to be happy and good; we try pretty damn hard to be righteous the best we know how.
But let’s feed all of that to the birds today, huh? Today, let’s forget all about the so-called ‘issues’ of the world and instead concentrate on something that entire galaxies hinge upon, something shooting stars have been trying to tell us about for epochs.
Today, let’s talk about when a little kid stands in the sunshine and catches their first fish!
That’s right! As a guy who loves to fish and loves spring and summer and loves being with my kids, I realize that the day is fast approaching when I am going to be able to stand there with my 4-year-old daughter Violet and my 2-year-old son Henry and watch as one of their bobbers glunks a few times and then sinks straightaway.
And oh what a glorious moment it will be for everyone on Earth!
There is nothing quite like the joy and puzzlement and excitement and fear that a kid expresses all at once when he or she reels in their very first bluegill or catfish or trout or whatever. The look in their eyes, their reluctance to touch the fish, then their refusal to let go…it’s all a great memory in the making and I really hope that this spring maybe finally brings that memory our way. And your way to if you want it.
Until then, enjoy this short video that captures exactly what I’m talking about.
