Disney Junior — Live On Stage! Gets a Makeover

sofia the firstOne of the wonderful things about the world of Disney is the synergy between the parks and the entertainment arms. For instance, one doesn’t have to walk very far down Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure (take a left into Hollywood Land) before finding some of their favorite friends from Disney Junior, and they are live on stage!

Disney Junior —Live On Stage! (see what they did there?) in Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort (also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) has added some of the newest stars from Disney Junior (the channel) to the playbill, namely the casts of Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins. In addition, the live show of puppets and magic also features Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Also, songs, fun, dancing, and cuteness—and that’s just the audience!

The show is geared, as is the channel, at the preschool set, but don’t let that keep you and your older kids from enjoying the experience. Everyone loves whimsical.

When my boys were younger the Disney Junior – Live On Stage! show had a different name and different characters. It was hosted by Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House, and included Winnie the Pooh, Stanley, and Rolie Polie Olie (later replaced by JoJo’s Circus)—it was downright precious.

Later, when the boys were a bit older and we thought, mistakenly so, too big for the show, we ducked into the theater to escape the heat. We were greeted by the aforementioned Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Little Einsteins. Everything (relatively) old was new again.

Synergy is fluid like that.

Now is there a new lineup that promises to carry on the Disney tradition of quality storytelling and magical moments, and should be a fun part of your Disney vacation regardless of age—or perhaps because of it.
