What is Disney magic? It could be a number of things. It is a cruise ship, a mobile app, and that bit of lightness in your heart that makes you feel like you can fly — all you need are happy thoughts. You have happy thoughts, right?
Over the years my family has experienced many examples of Disney magic. We have been on rides with Disney characters, relived our favorite movie moments, and we have made a few memories of our own. And it just keeps going.
This past weekend we went to the Disneyland Resort where I had a chance to see the magic up close, and I have developed a theory. Sure, the magic started with a man and a mouse, but it still runs strong throughout the parks, and a lot of it starts with the Disney employees — or Cast Members as they are called.
We have been very fortunate to experience some exceptional examples of Walt Disney’s philosophy on customer service at work, and they are very much appreciated. It is amazing how a few words or act of kindness can take something great and make it unforgettable. That may be at the very root of Disney magic, and it is the best souvenir that any of us could ever take home.
My top three Cast Member moments of Disney magic are:
Proposing at Disney 1 of 3I decided to propose on a whim, and the Cast Members at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom were there for me. They made the arrangement, down to the glass slipper! Read more at Proposing at Disney.
Lucky Pennies 2 of 3This is a brick just outside the entrance of Disneyland that we bought a week after our youngest was born (six years ago). It is magical in its own right, but this past weekend a magical Cast Member took it up a notch. You can read The Luck of Picking Up Pennies for the whole story!
Donald & Dumbo 3 of 3When we stayed up extra late for the Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom we never guessed that our kids would be sitting side by side on their favorite rides with their favorite characters. All it took was being in the right place at the right time, and a fowl Cast Member making magic happen.
What are your favorite Cast Member stories and bits of Disney magic?
