Back when Nils Pickert’s family lived in the big city, most people didn’t really take much notice of the little boy who wore dresses.
But that all changed when the Pickert’s moved to a much smaller town.
In a really heartwarming article today on Gawker, the tale is being told of Nils and his son, a boy who prefers to dress to the nines. In dresses.
According to the article, Pickert says that when the family moved to a more “traditional village” in Germany, his young son began to have some reservations about going outside and being seen in his particular fashion choices. So not wanting to ever discourage the lad from following his own heart, this guy did the only thing he could really think to do.
“He didn’t make friends in doing that in Berlin already,” Pickert says, “And after a lot of contemplation I had only one option left: To broaden my shoulders for my little buddy and dress in a skirt myself.”
Okay, okay, okay.
Go ahead. Stop reading here and just contemplate that for a long second.
In this world where people are so quick to judge and so swift to scorn, this father cast aside any reservations he had and willingly walks side-by-side with his little man, each of them adorned in their dress of the day.
And best of all, nowadays, when anybody has any words for Nils’ son about how he dresses, the kid has the ultimate retort, according to Gawker.
“You only don’t dare to wear skirts and dresses because your dads don’t dare to either.”
Right on, kid.
Well done, dad.
