There might be a better way to traumatize your kids and and a bunch of other kids to boot than brawling after a Little League baseball game, but I can’t actually come up with one.
This past week in Georgia, two fathers from opposing teams decided that the ballgame that had just ended was no longer about the young players who had just left the field and took it upon themselves to make a spectacle of their own foolishness.
According to a Yahoo! Sports Report, it all got going when a dad from the losing team took offense at a dad from the winning squad playing a victory song too loudly on his radio. The song, DJ Kahled’s ‘All I Do Is Win‘, is evidently the same song that Auburn University teams used to pump themselves up for victory and was apparently the request of the winning kids themselves.
So, when Iram King, 36, asked 38-year-old Charles Davidson to lower the volume and Davidson refused, all that matters about Little League and sportsmanship and handling both winning and losing with grace was tossed aside like an empty hot dog wrapper.
Instead, it came to blows (or judging by the actual video below, two husky guys hugging each other with disdain).
The reasons behind the fight are relatively unimportant. It is understandable that dads and moms get pretty passionate about their children’s sporting events, and for the most part that’s a great thing. But, people, you simply have to be able to control your emotions.
And if you can’t, then you should never be allowed anywhere any sort of youth event anywhere. End of story.
So, congrats, fellas. You both win Idiot of the Week.
